About Us

Polska Korporacja Recyklingu sp. z o. o. in Lublin (PKR) established in April 2006, is one of the largest processing plants and recyclers of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in the country. It develops and implements innovative technologies for recycling post-consumer waste making an important contribution to the construction of a circular economy based on knowledge and technology.

The company has state-of-the-art technological lines for automatic and complete processing of refrigeration equipment and other electrical and electronic equipment, which meet the highest requirements of Polish law and EU directives for processing and recycling.

PKR follows an approach in its daily work that is in line with the sustainable development policy, fully realizing the goals set out therein. It has an implemented and certified.

European Environmental Management System (EMAS) and ISO series systems for quality management, environmental management and information security. The strategic approach in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) implemented at the company in 2014 is mainly manifested in the concern for human resources and close involvement in volunteerism and environmental actions.

PKR significantly expanded its research and implementation potential in 2020, creating a separate organizational unit –
the Research and Development Center (CBR).

Investments are made under projects co-financed by EU funds, among others, such as “implementation of a process innovation related to the destruction and recovery of re-sulphur from used refrigeration equipment (including polyurethane fractions as a raw material for the production of oil eco-sorbent)…” (Eastern Poland Operational Program 2017-2020)

The final product of the aforementioned project is a “sorbent line” that produces a 100% recycled Re-Absorbent Oil sorbent for collecting oil and oil-based pollutants from solid surfaces and water surfaces.

Using recycled polyurethane foam from refrigerators is a sustainable and cost-effective way to produce sorbent materials for environmental remediation and other applications. The resulting sorbent can be used to remove a wide range of contaminants from water and solid surfaces, helping to reduce environmental contamination and improve public health. Its ability to absorb large quantities of oil quickly and effectively makes it an essential tool for environmental protection and oil spill mitigation.

Thanks to the innovative solution, the cost of managing waste polyurethane foam has disappeared. PKR’s competitiveness on the European and global WEEE processing market has also increased. The solution made it possible to recover 100% of the components from the recycled refrigerator and, at the same time, an environmentally friendly product was created.
Recycling of polyurethane foam into the form of a sorbent for oil and petroleum substances belongs to a niche market. The company is one of the pioneers of PUR foam processing on an industrial scale. Its main environmental value is that through its production, the extraction of non-renewable raw materials from which polymers, including polyurethane foam, the sorbent material, is reduced (about 8% of the world’s oil production is consumed during the production of plastics). This results in a reduction in energy consumption.

PKR, implementing the principles of corporate social responsibility adopted in its environmental policy, strives to improve its processing processes according to the “zero waste” principle. It is constantly raising the level of knowledge and innovation in the process of creating “clean technologies” for processing and recycling, reducing the energy intensity of processes and optimizing the use of resources.

The management of the Polish Recycling Corporation actively participates in consultative work, including at the national level in the formation and development of the Closed Circuit Economy (GOZ) policy, is one of the founders of the Klaster Gospodarki Odpadowej i Recyklingu, and is also a member of the GPP Ekologia association.

Polska Korporacja Recyklingu is thus part of the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan, which lays out a roadmap for the transition to a circular economy, with a focus on reusing and recycling materials and products.
